This country report was prepared under a professional service agreement according to guideline s set by Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. It seeks to provide data about teachers’ issues in early childhood education in Trinidad and Tobago, through a description and systematization of identified topics . Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) which caters for the under 5 age group, is not compulsory, neither is it part of the formal education sy stem, but steps are being made to provide universal access to quality ECCE services. According to the Education Act (1966) Primary education is compulsory from age 6.
